Suspension fastener check & replacement
Suspension fasteners — bolts, nuts, brackets and subframe joints — rarely get attention until they start loosening or rust through.
Symptoms
- Suspension fasteners are seized or have rusted through.
What's included
- In Kyiv conditions, with winter road chemicals, fastener corrosion is common: a bolt may seize until its thread strips, or a bracket may simply delaminate. We inspect every mounting point during suspension servicing, treat threaded joints and replace parts that have lost strength. Tightening is done with a torque wrench to the manufacturer’s specifications; excessive force means a stripped thread or a cracked bracket.
Additional checks
- Anti-corrosion treatment of threaded joints
- Tightening with a torque wrench to manufacturer specifications
Why it matters
A seized bolt can strip its thread, and a bracket weakened by corrosion can simply delaminate. Torque matters here — overtightening by feel strips threads or cracks the bracket.
More details
Suspension mounting hardware — bolts, nuts, brackets, and subframe joints — rarely gets attention until it starts backing out or rusting through. In Kyiv's conditions, with winter road salt, hardware corrosion happens more often than one would like: a bolt seizes so badly that the threads strip, or a bracket simply delaminates. We check the condition of all mounting points at every suspension service, treat the threaded joints, and replace anything that has lost strength. Tightening is done with a torque wrench to the manufacturer's specs — this is one case where tightening “by feel” means stripped threads or a cracked bracket.
