Expansion Valve Replacement (Empty A/C System)
The expansion valve meters refrigerant into the evaporator. Sticking or contamination can affect cooling, although an incorrect charge or another circuit fault can cause similar symptoms. Replacement follows diagnosis and confirmation that the system is depressurised. During access, open pipes are protected from moisture and dirt, connections are inspected and suitable seals are fitted. The assembled circuit is checked within the agreed scope; a new valve does not automatically remove contamination elsewhere in the system.
Symptoms
- Inconsistent cooling with a confirmed expansion valve fault.
What's included
- Confirm the diagnosis and absence of pressure.
- Access the valve and protect open lines.
- Replace the valve and its connection seals.
- Check assembly and identify further circuit servicing needs.
