The shaft is always balanced after repair, otherwise vibration remains.

When its needle bearings wear out, vibration appears on acceleration, a dull thud on setting off, and a characteristic hum that grows with speed. We check the joint by rocking the shaft on the lift — even slight play here is already a reason for replacement, because it fails quickly and can cause the shaft to break while driving.
