Steering rack repair
In most cases, repairing a steering rack costs less than replacement and, when done properly, provides service life close to a new part.
Symptoms
- Worn bushings, leaking seals, or shaft wear — defects a rack repair can fix instead of a full replacement.
What's included
- Typical faults are worn bushes, leaking seals, shaft wear and a damaged centre. We remove and fully dismantle the rack, inspect every component and show what is worn; repair scope is decided then, not guessed. We replace the repair kit, restore or replace bushes, and assemble with the preload nut adjusted. With the rack removed, we also inspect the rods and boots.
Additional checks
- Tie rods and boots inspected while the rack is off
- Damaged rack centre
- Preload nut adjustment after assembly
Why it matters
A repair is usually cheaper than replacement and gives a service life close to a new part. The rack is fully disassembled and every part inspected, so the scope of work is determined precisely, not guessed.
More details
Repairing the rack is cheaper than replacement in most cases and, done properly, gives a service life close to that of a new part. The most common defects are worn bushings, leaks through the seals, wear on the shaft, and a worn center section. We remove the rack, fully disassemble it, inspect every part for defects, and show the customer exactly what's worn — the decision about the scope of the repair is made after that, not guessed at. We replace the repair kit, restore or replace the bushings, and reassemble with the preload nut adjusted. We repair steering racks in Kyiv with the unit removed, so we also inspect the tie rods and boots at the same time, since access to them is already open.
