Brake Caliper Replacement
The caliper presses the pads against the disc and must release them when pedal force is removed. Housing damage, leakage or seizure may make replacement more appropriate than repairing individual parts. We first establish whether the caliper is responsible rather than a hose or guide pin fault. The replacement must suit the installation side and brake design. After fitting, we service the opened hydraulic circuit and check for leaks, correct movement and residual brake drag.
Symptoms
- A wheel continues to brake after the pedal is released.
- Brake fluid traces on the caliper.
What's included
- Identify the cause of seizure or leakage.
- Remove the caliper and inspect connected components.
- Fit the correct unit and reconnect the brake line.
- Bleed the circuit and check sealing and release.
