Brake Drum Replacement

A brake drum works with the shoes, so its condition is assessed by its internal surface and permitted dimensions. Grooves, cracks or wear can prevent even lining contact. Before replacement, we inspect the shoes, wheel cylinder, springs and adjuster, since a new drum cannot compensate for faults in those parts. Installation takes account of the hub and bearing arrangement. After assembly, we check clearance, free rotation and parking brake operation where that brake acts through the drum mechanism.
