Battery Load Test
A load test shows how a battery behaves while delivering current rather than only at rest. A high unloaded voltage alone does not prove that it can support starting. Before testing, we consider battery type, condition and suitability of the method; low charge may require preparation before a conclusion can be drawn. Measurements follow the test procedure and are considered alongside terminal condition. The result assesses the battery without automatically blaming it for every vehicle starting problem.
Symptoms
- Slow cranking requiring a power-supply assessment.
What's included
- Inspect the battery and terminals and assess method suitability.
- Assess the initial state before applying a load.
- Check battery response under a controlled load.
- Explain the result and any further checks needed.
